We were sitting down at the dinner table the other weekend; we had the kids over and ate dinner with them and the grand kids. My son starts up this conversation about this long forgotten tail about who cracked the plastic storage with drawers in the back bedroom. I remember sitting there and completely leaving his conversation and imagining the whole scene over again in my mind with laughing going on and everything.

It was almost twenty years ago and I was sneaking around the house spying on the boys when they were young, and I peeked around the corner and spied my son standing on top of this flimsy clear plastic storage drawer set, jumping off of it onto the bed, then he would jump off the bed and step up onto a rocker and then back up onto the drawers.

He was laughing and bouncing back and forth and all of a sudden he got the hiccups and so there he was bouncing on the bed and hiccuping and the all of a sudden he leaped from the bed onto the plastic storage container drawers and went right through the top and cascaded down through the first set of drawers. Stuck there hiccuping, laughing and crying all at the same time was just too much to bear and I nearly fell down laughing a good belly laugh.

My son did not realize at the time of the feet through the plastic that I was watching around the corner so when my wife and I ran into the room because of the commotion, he was busily trying everything in his power to deny what had happened even though his foot was caught inside the plastic storage drawers. He was making up this story about how he came about being on top of the plastic storage with drawers.

It took a little time to get him out of the situation and he did manage to scratch his lower leg just a little, but to remember it like it was yesterday made my whole afternoon. Dinner was great and we ate steaks with potatoes and corn. We even had ice cream for desert. The meal was great tasting as usual and the traditional meal was a great reminder of the story to reminisce by. Its really wonderful to be able to remember those grand moments with those kids.
